I just thought that the cover was cute. Then I fell in love with the story.
The story of a girl who learns to live from a boy who wants to die. Theodore Finch wants to take his own life. He thinks, he's broken, and no one can fix him. Violet Markey is devastated by her sister's death. They meet on the ledge of the school bell tower, and so their story begins. It's only together they can be themselves. But, as Violet's world grows, Finch's begins to shrink. How far will Violet go to save the boy she has come to love?
First of all, the cover is amazing. I love how it looks, I love how it feels, It's beautiful and amazingly connected to the story.
This story really touched my heart. I really connected with the book and couldn't put it down. It was easy to read, I like the writing style of the author. I am really thankful for the author for this amazing book!
This book may not be for everyone, because it does involve death and a painful topic, suicide. It is not a usual love story with a happy, colorful ending. It is a story about how to live with huge emotional problems, how to survive in the cruel world, how to get up every morning and live, not just exist.
I thought their relationship was so strong and unique, but nothing is forever. That's why you have to life for the moment. You have to get yourself together and try to live the best life you can.
At the last pages, I cried and I didn't want to read further. I was shocked about the ending. Trying not to spoil. I put the book down for one day. Then read till the end and thought: "This is how life is. It's not always perfect. It's not always how you want." So the ending was how it was. I accepted it, so I rate this book:
10/10
” You are all the colours in one, at full brightness.
” The thing I realize is, that it's not what you take, its what you leave.
” The problem with people is they forget that most of the time it's the small things that count.
” We are all alone, trapped in these bodies and our own minds, and whatever company we have in this life is only fleeting and superficial.
