I went into the bookshop and saw this amazingly beautiful book. I instantly needed to buy it.
Juliette hasn't touched anyone in a long while. The last time she did, she killed someone and The Reestablishment locked her up in an asylum for murder. Her touch is fatal and no one knows why. Beside Juliette, the world is shattering and breaking apart. Food is hard to find, plants don't grow, birds don't fly anymore, everything is different. The Reestablishment has plans for Juliette. Plans to use her as a weapon. But Juliette has plans of her own. After a lifetime without freedom, she's finally discovering a strenght to fight back for the very first time - and to find a future with the one boy she thought she'd lost forever.
This was a very interesting book. I couldn't put it down. I read it in two days and I was so into it.
I loved the authors writing style. It was really easy to read and it felt like I flew through the book. The crossed out texts amused me. I thought it was making the whole story more intriguing. And also it attracted people around me. When I was reading in school, people said: "Is it really crossed out, or you did that?"
I liked the characters. I loved Juliette and the way she acted and talked. I felt what she had suffered and what she had gone through. Adam.... Through all this book, I just wanted to read more about these two together. One thing I thought was funny, that every time that Juliette and Adam were alone together, something disturbed them. And then there was Warner. The "big bad wolf". I hated him. I wanted to shoot him in the head. He was the worst. At first I imagined him as an pretty old dude, like 40 or 50 years old, but then he said he's 19. I was shocked and it was hard for me to imagine that he's young. But later it was okay.
The story is interesting and really mind-blowing. I thought that this book was really powerful and I thought about it for a loooong time after I read it. I thought how I would feel if I couldn't touch anyone all my life and then find out that I can touch one boy without hurting or killing him.
I just don't have much to say about this book, because it's amazing. So I rate it:
9/10
